Why is it a big deal liking a badly reviewed video game?

I see this on the internet. Sometimes when someone likes a badly reviewed video game, that person either gets made fun of or questioned for having a different opinion than others or the reviewer. Why do some people make a big deal over liking a video game that got a bad review and having a different opinion? It seems pointless to me.
