Should I get a Dell Mini?

My laptop is on the fritz and I want something more reliable. I don't have much money so I was thinking about getting a Mini. I just don't know if they are good enough to be worth it. I'm not looking to play games other than internet flash type games. I would mainly use it for the internet and writing papers for school. I would also like to download movies and watch them and listen to music. My main concern is that they only have 1gb of ram. Would I be able to run firefox with a few tabs open and ms word and winamp all at once without lag?
