Need mature advice...should i have asked this guy to be my room mate?

cos he is acting a little distant now that he has accepted. I dont want or a relationship with him but now he may think I want either/or...he is trying to pay for college out of pocket and I could use help with the mortgage cos i want to get some repairs/maintenance done on the house..but now i think he may have lost respect for me or something cos he used to talk to me more prior to me asking him to be my roomie...should i take back the offer??
